This month it's all about relaxing

Winter is a wonderful time to travel in the UK. Picking the perfect bolthole is crucial to ensure you enjoy spending as much time inside your holiday escape as you will outside it.

This month’s Suitcase Essentials have been carefully handpicked to ensure you reach an ultimate state of relaxation and carve out a little bit of time for yourself.

The Suitcase

An essential step to any staycation is the often laborious but essential packing process. Be sure to give yourself plenty of time to pack. Last minute packing is stressful and often results in the omission of  vital necessities. We’re keeping things traditional with this beautiful Mulberry Weekend Holdall which is perfect for a long weekend getaway. Spacious and sleek, be the envy of your fellow travelers and help make the packing process that little bit more enjoyable.

The Wash Bag Essentials

Travel Washbag Essentials and beauty trends

One of the many wonderful things about a UK Staycation is the lack of stipulations on what can  be packed into your washbag. With no liquid limitations, you can pack eye creams and face masks galore. Carve out time to unwind and take care of yourself, something we don’t always have time to do in our hectic everyday lives.

We’ve picked some of our current beauty and wellbeing favourites that will leave you feeling shiny and new.

This Christophe Robin Cleansing Mask which has been described as the ‘Rolls Royce’ of hair products. The non-detergent formula fixes color and restores a natural gloss and bounce to dyed hair. Lemon Zest extracts clean hair and scalp and help to rebalance pH, while soothing Chamomile and St. John’s wort extracts prevent loss of artificial pigment.

It’s imperative to smell lovely whilst away and for this, we highly recommend our favourite perfumery ‘La Labo’. Santal 33 is our current scent of choice and can be worn by both women and men and looks nearly as nice as it smells. You can personalise the label should you so wish, making this perfume as individual as you are.

Glossier lip balms are packing essential especially in this increasingly cold weather. Warm up in one of Beachspoke’s vintage copper baths with a relaxing Safran scented candle for optimum amounts of zen.

The Healing Power of ZZZZZZ

Travel Sleep hygge essentials

In these beautifully silky Kate Moss for Equipment Pyjamas, all day outfitting has been made mildly more acceptable and a whole lot more luxurious. Printed with graphic stripes, this relaxed piece has a slightly cropped hem and is trimmed with classic piping. A dash to the shops in your leisure wear never looked or felt so fashionable.

When your not out exploring your local area or relaxing by one the Beachspoke fires with a good read, holidays are the perfect time to catch up on some much needed sleep. We often only realise how tired we are when we finally stop.  Slips silky soft eyemask give new meaning to the phrase ‘beauty sleep’ and allow you can catch some Z’s at any time of the day. Crafted from the highest grade mulberry silk, these masks are designed to sit softly against your face to block out light while protecting against damage to skin and hair. In the incredibly comfortable Beachspoke beds with their sky high Egyptian Cotton thread count sheets, you are guaranteed to wake up feeling refreshed and and totally restored.

The Importance of Downtime

Downtime hobbies include photography with Leica's polaroid camera and the Costa Prize winning novel Days Without End

Even though each of the properties is kitted out with wifi, a Beachspoke holiday is the perfect time for a digital detox. Zip up your Laptops, Ipads and phones can packed away in your new Mulberry Bag giving you all the time in the world to catch-up, explore and unwind without any distractions. Advocates of a good holiday read, we have two suggestions for this week. Having just won the Costa Prize for Fiction this week, we thought it only appropriate to include Sebastian Barry’s Day’s Without End. Inspired by his own experiences of family life this novel confronts an array of  subjects from Irish emigration to gay identity and the making of America during the American Civil War. With the novel also being shortlisted for the Man Booker Prize,  Days Without End has been described as “miraculous” with one the biggest miracles apparently being that quite so much can be packed into 260 pages – the mark of a truly exceptional book and the recipe for a guaranteed page-turner.

When out and about exploring your local area and surrounds, why not swap your iPhone for one of these handy Leica Instant Camera? Available in a multitude of colours, these fun and compact instants provide the perfect combination of style and functionality. Instead of posting your shots on Instagram, why not take your Polaroids home and create a real-life homage to the incredibly relaxing break you had and endeavor to make more time for yourself again soon, in the not so distant future.
